Tuesday I headed down to the new Hard Rock Park with a friend to do a report for ThrillNetwork.com.
All of these pics link to my online album where you can download high res versions if you like.
Frankly, I wasn't really blown away by the park. This is my opinion, so ya know. Deal with it. It's a really nice park, but really needs some more rides IMO. I think after about 5 years or so, this could easily crack my top 10 parks. But for now, nope. And $50 is quite pricey too I think.
Anywaysssss....on with the show.
What is that I see in the distance?
whootah. Hard Rock Park is even smaller than I thought! It appears to be only one strip mall building!
Oh wait. Nevermind. Led Zep sits to the left of the main entrance and it dominates the skyline as you walk in from the parking lot.
My new car. (That's Mitch, not me)
The entrance is nice.
See last quote.
I'm sure you've seen this before.
And this too.
Coaster Nerd has arrived (me).
Sadly Maximum RPM still wasn't ready
But this one was. I'm still not sure if I can count this as a credit since I rode (part of) this I think, when it was at Emerald Poine. Course I've heard several versions, like some say it's parts from Hydra Fighter II, and some say it's all new. It seemed very similar to me.
A new type of flat (for me anyway). Pretty gentle.
Another shot of Slippery When Wet
They will soon have a Gibson store in the base of the big guitar.
Wait. I'm confused. Slippery When Wet was a Bon Jovi song. Why isn't this Bon Jovi State Park????
Shake rattle n rollercoaster was a nice Vekoma jr coaster. And actually I'd about rather ride it than Slippy. lol
I haven't figured out what these creatures are. The metal guy, not Mitch.
Credit #4 of the day...or is it 3.5?
I was shocked at how smooth the ride was and how fast it seems. Vekoma actually does make some good stuff after all!
The giant Gibson with Slippy behind.
The park is "slightly" close to the airport. A few looked like they were going to land on my head!
Beatles quotes always get you coolness points.
This was up in a private room they had for our media preview of the food of the park as well. Don't hate. Look at Zappa on the end. LOL
The entrance plaza from our private perch up above. There was a half nude pic of Madonna in the men's bathroom, but I can't show you that since this is a "family friendly" site . Actually I forgot to take the camera in there and take the pic. Maybe I was in shock from seeing a boob for the first time in a long time.
Zep from above it all.
The local band was smokin! No seriously. Their amp was on fire.
The ice show is in that big building. It was quite good I thought. Hot asian chicks always get points from me.
I didn't get around to riding this, but I think there are 3 Huss flats in the place.
The guys from In the loop (left 2 guys) were there as well.
They had a "beach party" themed show that was pretty good, but the ice show was better.
Thumbs up?
Now he's not sure.
The Flash left Six Flags for a career at Hard Rock.
Despite the word cool being in the shot, I think those flames are not. Why am I rhyming like Dr. Seuss?
The ice show was quite good. See, I told you they had hot asian chick(s).
I thought they were smart to keep the set simple, and just move the bar around every now and then. The background only changed a few times I think.
Watch out for flying ice skaters!
Our next segment is called: Wes tries to come up with a lame musical reference for each pic!
Check my eyes. I've got double vision!
Love Shack is a little ol place where, we can get together!
I get lost...in your eyes. Oh wait, that's Debbie Gibson. Ew!
Goodness gracious! Great balls of fire!
I don't know why you say goodbye, I say hello. (Be sure to pick up the phones and listen)
Nights in white satin...ok, that's all I got. The ride was kinda meh. Just ok.
I'm goin down...to Alphabet Street. OK, that didn't work. Someone stop me.
She's got a ticket to ride...and she don't care! (London cab ride)
Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy...
Be sure to pick up your free air guitar on the way out!
Thanks Mr. Morrison. I have to agree. Thanks for reading.

Re: Hard Rock Park 5/6
Another batch of pics....I somehow left off.
I can't ever pass up a set of swings. And these had the wider seats too! Bonus!
I know. I'm just too cool. Stop hatin.
Yes. Um. I'd like the Boa to go! (In the giftshop as you're leaving Fast Lane)
All their shops seemed very well themed.
Swings!
Oh no! The devil is trying to pull Life in the fast lane down to hell!
Watch out. He squirts! (He also talks to you like the buzzard at Dollywood, or that thing at IOA)
You might get slightly wet.
