I am going. Jay told me this morning that he is not sure if he will be going, because he just got a new job that he will be starting in August.

Well, as far as the car situation goes for this trip, Jonathan, if it's only the four of us (Alan, Jon, John and Mikey) are you willing to drive the four of us from your place? If not, we could take Johnny's car. In either case, of course we will buck up some gas $$$.

Now, if Jay goes, we are looking at 2 cars I suppose, unless we feel we can cram 5 of us into a single car which I would prefer NOT to do (no offense).

Jay or Jon, do you have any idea when Jay might know if he can go?

Jay is on a trip until Saturday, I believe, so we won't be able to ask him until then. But yes, I am willing to drive, and if anyone needs to stay at my place either night, they are welcome.

Looks like we will be among the last to ride the Great Gasp before it is removed to make way for their hyper coaster.
Enjoy the Last Gasp of Summer at Six Flags Say goodbye to summer and
to The Great Gasp with two weeks of special events!

Atlanta - Six Flags Over Georgia is offering some great ways to end
your summer on a high note this year. The Last Gasp of Summer marks
the end of weekday operations at the park, and the final drops of The
Great Gasp. Two weeks of special concerts and events are planned
during the celebration!

During The Last Gasp of Summer, guests of the park will have an
opportunity to be one of the last riders on The Great Gasp parachute
drop ride. Riders on August 13 and 14 will receive a limited edition
collector's button commemorating the final drops on The Great Gasp.

Built in 1976, The Great Gasp has been a favorite with guests seeking
the thrill of a 200-foot parachute drop. Sporting magnificent views
of the Atlanta skyline, the Great Gasp has stood as a local icon,
carrying over 15 million riders to lofty heights and back. Final
rides will take place August 13 and 14, after which The Great Gasp
will be retired following almost 30 years of service.

Six Flags Over Georgia has teamed up with Publix supermarkets to
deliver "School Supplies for Cool Kids." On July 31, receive $15 off
a daily admission ticket at the park front gate with your gift of
school supplies. Supplies will go to underprivileged children in the
Atlanta area.

Kids Fest brings one last concert series of the summer to Six Flags
Over Georgia! The fun starts Saturday, August 6 with pop star Aaron
Carter at 5 p.m. Immediately following is recording artist Christy
Carlson Romano. Wrapping up Sunday, August 7 is Atlanta native
Raven-Symone at 5 p.m. All concerts are free with park admission.

In addition to the music, kids can drop by the Axis Arena during Kids
Fest to play the all-new Kids Next Door trading card game at the
interactive treehouse. Over in Bugs Bunny World kids will find
balloon animals, games, modeling school tryouts, face painting and
much, much more.

It's not too late to pack in multiple days of fun this summer! Get a
season pass at Publix for just $54.99 and come both days. Six Flags
Over Georgia is open for daily operation through August 14, then
weekend operation through October 30. Please visit sixflags.com for a
complete schedule.

Yea, I read about that on Rec.Rollercoaster myself. I hope that they are giving out the Buttons already on the day we are there (11th).

I really like that ride too... :(

We will have to be sure to get lots of footage of it. It's quite a historical item for the park. As far as I can tell, it's still fairly popular as well. It's a shame they are taking it out.

John and I are heading down on Wednesday night as planned and we are still planning on all riding together to SFOG. If Jay can go, we will have to take two cars but that's not a problem. Jonathan, if your still planning to drive, I'll have everyone cough up some gas money for the trip.

So i'm getting about a 4-hour trip from Charlotte to SFOG.. is that your take Jonathan? I assume we want to be there at park opening so, we should cut out on Thursday morning at around 5:30 - 6:00??? Right?

Yeah, it's about 4 hours, maybe less depending on how fast I drive, maybe more depending on that fun Atlanta morning traffic. I would suggest that we leave my place at 5:30, and if we are making good time we can stop at fast food or something later in the morning for a quick breakfast if anyone is interested. Do you guys need a place to stay, or are you staying with Mike?

Well, John will probably stay with Mike. I would stay there too except that, now don't laugh, I'm getting beyond the age of dealing well with sleeping on the floor. :? So, my plan is to get a hotel room for the night so that I have a bed. Somewhere between Mike's place and yours I suppose.

As to the time, I agree with you completely. We need to get an early start so we arn't rushed and have time to stop and get somthing to eat.

BTW - What is your quote from??

^Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (Google rocks)

Ok, I'm off on the 11th, BUT I have to work 12 hour shifts on the 10th and 12th, so its safe to say that I will not be joining you. I have a feeling we will be spending a bunch of time there next year though, so no worries.

--Jay (See you all at C3!)

Edit: WTF Alan.. no Taxi Jam love on CoasterFanatics?

I missed the TJ ERT during the first C3 so, I thought I would rank it slightly low so that after C305 I can bump it up following a thorough eval.

Jay/Jon - Is their any reason for us to consider getting Bots for this trip?

We'll miss the Jay! (Oh no, what will we do without our leader???)
