I went to the game last night on a last minute decision.
Now I remember why I never wear a hat.

Erik Cole is out for tonight's game against Tampa Bay, but
ANDREW LADD has been called up from Lowell and will be playing tonight in his first career NHL game. I didn't think he was expected to play with the team any this year, so this is a surprise.

Heck of a game.
Staal deserved to be picked for Team Canada, but I guess being one of the three alternates is good.

How have the crowds been at the games lately?
They hardly ever show highlights here in Charlotte for some reason and I hardly ever can catch a game on FSN.
I know at one time they were pretty sparse before they got good the past couple years.

Attendance went way up when they made the run to the finals in 02, but then the next two seasons they were one of the worst teams in the entire league, so it collapsed again. This season attendance is up 23% from last year, and right now they are selling out pretty frequently. It doesn't hurt that they have the best record in the NHL. I've been very disappointed in the Charlotte area coverage as well. The team got a lot of coverage in the early years, but lately not much at all. I'm sure publicity will go way up once it finally begins to hit people that they are going to have their best regular season in franchise history, and could very well be favorites to win the Cup.

Brooks Orpik hit Cole into the boards head first last night, and Cole's neck was fractured. He is out for the season.

GO CANES!
Tonight's win over the Rangers was a landmark one.
Most wins in franchise history
Most home wins in franchise history
Most points in franchise history
And oh yeah, Mike Commodore has 2 goals this season. His previous season high: 1.
